Weather
Anyone that has spent more than 12 months in Iowa knows the weather is subject to change on a whim. The course is primarily around a wide-open field with little wind blocks. Please dress accordingly and keep an eye on the weather. In the past 10 years, we’ve had anywhere from 45 to 75 degree temperatures! The Race is held rain or shine unless there is lightning in the forecast so stay tuned to social media if the weather is questionable.
Race Day Schedule
Signs will be posted around Water Works Park to direct you where to go.
The Kids Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. in front of the shelter house. We plan on having about 50 kids participate, so please be listening for announcements for the start.
The 2K, 5K, and 10.1K race is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
The 2K walk, 5K walk/run, and 10.1K run all start from the same line. Please find an appropriate starting position at the starting area. We strongly request that walkers and strollers stay towards the back of the pack to allow individuals running for a time to get a good start.
We also request all walkers stay on the right side of the path to allow runners to pass on the left. The 10.1K course involves running around the first loop a second time, which will likely involve runners having to pass walkers. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
The 10.1K course will continue through the finish arch and past the shelter house. For this reason we ask that you avoid standing on the pavement. There will be lane marked for those running through and staff in the area.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, awards will be mailed out after the race concludes. We have awards for the top overall male and female, plus age group awards for the 5K and 10.1K.
USATF
We’re proud to have an official USATF certified course! A USATF-certified course is a road race course whose distance has been certified for accuracy, meaning your road running performance can be accepted as an official record or national ranking. Running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performances run on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate. For more information, please visit the USTAF website.
